CANCER BATS VANS STORE SIGNING SESSION

The Cancer Bats just went and did a signing at the Vans Store in Leeds.
The basement room of the shop has a brand new ramp in it, and Liam Bat and Foxy SSS both got up on it and spent a good hour getting sweaty and taking the odd tumble. Fans then came down for the signing, getting Vans gooodie bags and having photos with the band. Good times.

Let the games begin!

Arrived in Leeds - successfully managed to find the venue and the band! Right now some of the lads are soundchecking downstairs while I hack into the Cockpit's wi-fi and begin the fun & games of updating you all on what it's like to tour with these sweaty Canadian fellows (and The Plight and SSS too).
First photo update (left to right): Scott, merch dude Juice, Katie (me) and tour manager Stan!

Enjoy x

More Fives from Liam- Flapjacks and Hardcore!

One of my favorite things in the UK is Flapjacks ! We can't get them in Canada at all. So this is my quick top 5 about some of my fav brands

#1 Bakin Boys! I judge my flapjacks by how heavy they are and these boys bake a mother of a jack! harder to find at gas stations but worth the hunt!
#2 M&S - Marks and Spencer makes a mean flap jack and they put them in a bucket ! I'd like a hand held version but the bucket is fun for sharing!
#3 McVities-these are my go to cus you can find them every where and they taste pretty damn good
#4 Snickers - sometimes I get adventurous when I'm 3 weeks into tour and I go for one of these guys to spice up my life
#5 Home Made! Get some oats and butter and whip that shit up! I've eaten some home made flappers and thy were delightful!

The other thing that rules in the UK is your hardcore scene ! So many rad bands that we're hella stoked on so this is my quick list on that. We're touring with The Plight and SSS so the'yre not on the list and we're playing with Rolo Tomassi and Take A Worm For A Walk Week so DUH? obvi we likes them, so this is my list of 5 other homies you should check out if you dont know:

#1 Hexes -Post Punk!
#2 Dead Swans -UKHC like Boston but Brighton haha
#3 Architects - Tech crushers
#4 Your Demise - tough band, sweet heart dudes
#5 Ghost Of A Thousand - New record SWEEEEET

Note I just wrote this top 5 and was thinking how there's way more bands that rule and I'm not gonna write them all. Also I didn't put GALLOWS down cus that was like the most OBVI and my list is in nooooo order cus all those bands rule. I'm gonna move on cus this is awkward haha

Joining the Cancer Bats tour this week!

Hello all...
Katie P here (that's me on the right obvioulsy, next to Liam Bat). I spend most of my days working at Kerrang! and Total Rock but am lucky enough to be heading out of the office and onto the road for the last half of the Cancer Bats UK tour this week!
On Thursday i'll be joining the band in Leeds and riding in the van with them, rocking out at shows, and generally causing trouble till their show in London next week.
Why go? Why the hell not! I will take plenty of photos and videos and write blogs about everything that's going on, giving you an Access All Areas insight into touring with one of the most awesome bands on the planet!
Last week I went to Brighton to see the tour kick off - and it was pretty damn incredible. The band's months of touring around the States on the Taste Of Chaos with Thursday, Bring Me The Horizon and Four Year Strong have certainly paid off - and their set is tighter and more energetic than ever... and a brand new song too!
Bet it feels good to be back in the UK and in the sweaty faces of us Brit kids in a more intimate environment!
Anyways - Brighton was great - and has got me very excited about the rest of the tour.
I'll see you in Leeds!
Katie P

Top Fives from Liam

Since this is for the VANS why not do a piece on TOP 5 UK skaters ! from Liam

#1 Geoff Rowley! I know what youre thinking, this is an easy one, but for us growing up in Canada Geoff Rowley was the first UK skater that we had ever heard of and the fact that he's still ruling makes him the top of this list.

#2 Tom Penny - I can't remember what video it was but I remember in 94 seeing this dude shred a mini ramp and i was all "daaaaaaaammmnnnnn"

#3 John Rattray- Go to VBS.TV and watch him dominate the ZERO park and tell me this guy doesn't rip. Also watch his part because he has this hilarious friend named Stu he skates with.

#4 Ben Nordberg & Kris Vile - Didn't know who these kids were until this morning when I went to VBS.TV and watched the SKATE EUROPE thing they were in. Good Mini skills and I like that they've got PMA

#5 Nick Dead Swans -I know he sings in a band now but i saw some old shit of him just crushing 10 steps RESPECT !

We're getting all Q mag with our lists but we like it...Hope you do too

Here's Liam from Cancer Bats:

YOOOOOOO so i got that thing done
We're coming over to that UK and the lovely people at VANS asked me to do a top ten list. There are so many things I love about the UK so I figured I wouldn't just do one I would do a bunch on the things I love about the United Kingdom! Also since I'm going to do a bunch I'm gonna make it shorter and just do a top 5 :)
TOP 5 Songs I've been jamming right now:

Now that we're off tour I just spent a bunch of money on records and this is what I've been jammin on the one:

#1 Mastodon -"Crack The Skye" This Album shreds life
#2 His Hero Is Gone "Monuments To Thieves" Some Classic crust going on here. This band is a huge influence for us and I'm very stoked to own this on vinyl now
#3 Fucked Up "year of the Rat" These guys put out SOOOOO many records and singles and stuff, they're great but it's hard to keep up sometimes
#4 MIA "KALA" I bought this LP at the same time as HHIG and I told my friend at the cash working there that the next Bats record was going to sound like both of those records mashed together. He laughed but I'm being for real.
#5 SilverSun Pickups "Swoon" I'll be honest i didn't buy this album i stole it from the internet but when the vinyl comes out in May I'm gonna buy. Holy shit is it ever good.

Thinking about it the next Bats record is gonna be a mash up of all those albums. Look out WORLD!

More tomorrow...

Vans Off The Wall Tour Dates and Booking info

Heard of the Vans Warped Tour? Well get ready as Vans UK are set to unleash a little bit of that madness this side of the pond with the Vans Off The Wall Tour. Expanding on the Vans OTW Night that takes place around Halloween each year across Europe and ahead of the Vans OTW Stage that will be at this years Relentless Boardmasters, the OTW Tour will this year hook up with long time Vans favourites, Cancer Bats.
It was a natural choice to support Cancer Bats for the very first UK Vans OTW Tour as both parties are big fans of each other and not forgetting the local contingency - Leeds' Finest The Plight and Scouse noise mongers SSS.
