THE PLIGHT TOUR UPDATE

Al from The Plight checks in with an update from the Vans Off The Wall Tour

"Hey guys, we are in the backstage area in sunny Manchester chilling with the blokes and the P. The tour so far has been awesome but not enough partying for me anyways. Lewis played an elaborate prank on Foxy last night involving a large fridge, and being completely naked, and a bottle of beer - you can figure it out for yourself. The Nottingham show was great and pretty rowdy and even rowdier afterwards. We danced to some Pantera and Scott Bats got his thrash on and waved his hair around like a bloody, i dunno, Dani Filth. Went on a bit of a drinking pilferidge, and managed to find an untouched shot of Sambuca on the side, a tinny and a pint. So we are sorry if anyone's pint went missing, but they looked a bit lonely. Cheers to anyone who has come out so far and nodded their heads to any of the songs. You guys rock!"

HANGING OUT IN MANCHESTER!

This evening in Manchester, the Academy is playing host to a whole load of shows...
one of which is Cancer Bats, The Plight and SSS... the other is Saxon with support from DORO Pesch!

Check out the pic below...

FOXY SSS SAYS:

"Doro has been tracking us down, and finally she has met SSS. She is looking very heavy metal. So while the Cancer Bats and SSS and The Plight are upstairs, DORO Pesch and Saxon are downstairs - the force of these two gigs will tear down Manchester. So much metal in one venue, the foundations won't be able to handle it. The building will crumble. I am saying this in a very dodgy heavy metal voice."

NOTTINGHAM - MAY 2 2009

Hello all
the tour has just arrived in Manchester, and the band are just doing a quick soundcheck before heading into town to go to a Vans Signing session at the Exit Store - come hang out! 4pm!
Last night's Nottingham show was a lot of fun - and as predicted, we did end up hanging out for a bit in the venue (post last post as it were) and having a bit of a dance. The room nearest the dressing rooms transformed into a 80s rock club and some of the Cancer Bats and The Plight took to the dance floor for a bit of air-guitar to Skid Row, Megadeth and more! Fun times! While this was going on, the Bats' merch guy Juice (fun guy to be around/pop punker) and tour manager/driver/inspirationalvibemaster Stan did tattoos on each others' legs of their initials in hearts. That is love. Liam Cancer Bat then did a stick-poke (lowfi) tattoo on a girl's wrist. It was all getting rather exciting and rather too close to me spontaneously getting LOVE LIFE across my toes. ;)
We then drove back to Leeds to crash at our pals' house again, drinking rather too much red wine on the journey and playing about 7 billion card games of Asshole. You know how to play it? I think we are clocking up about 70 games a day. No joke. We then got back to the house and watched some MTV Base - as you do. Had another mini-dance party to some Busta etc. Went into the kitchen before bed to see that we ALL wear Vans and they were all piled up in a big mess. Looked pretty cool though - cheers Vans!
Woke up this morning, and just enough time to get a coffee before driving to Manchester. It's a pretty sunny day right now, and spirits are high. The room here is great and should fill up and get rowdy later. Hope to see you there/here/everywhere!

NOTTINGHAM BACKSTAGE TATTOOING

Tattoo gun + backstage dressing room + men with so many tattoos that mistakes don't matter = fun times.

STOKE ON TRENT

Hello all.. here are some photos from the shenanigans in Stoke On Trent. The show - see footage below - was grand! When we first arrived, the whole town/city seemed quite empty and I don't know if any of us knew or could have expected just how great the show would turn out. The venue - The Sugarmill - is set up really nicely, so that there are lots of levels that people can stand on, as well as some balconies, and a nice big space for a pit! On the stage are two posing-podium-boxes, and The Plight made good use of these during their set, shredding in the faces of the crowd. During the Bats set, these boxes turned into little launch pads, as kids were stage-diving onto the heads of their friends and fellow fans. Special mention going to the short chap in the jogging bottoms who had a real bounce and seamlessly flew from floor to box to ceiling a few times! No proposals this evening. Haha. Ben - the Bats' tech - and I made a game for ourselves before the show began, chatting to as many new people as possible, getting their names and collecting one interesting fact about each person. Ending up learning some crazy things about the people of Stoke, including some pretty mad locations of some metal tattoos! Gave out a load of cool Vans guitar pins to people when we learnt something new about them! Anyhoo... enjoy the photos (and the 'fake' knuckle tattoos too)!
